The Spookiest Season: Celebrate Halloween at the Tampa Bay Watch Discovery Center!

Join us this month at the Discovery Center for some super spooky and scary fun! Our educators have put together a variety of Halloween-themed events for you to enjoy; from discovering the deep ocean to a haunted boat tour of Tampa Bay, there’s something for everyone!

Science Saturday: Discover the Deep - The deep sea is home to many unusual species that use adaptations such as bioluminescence and camouflage to survive in the darkness. Come join us for an exciting class as we uncover the mysteries of the deep! This event takes place from 11 am to 1 pm on October 8th and is best for grades 2-5.

“Ick”ology - Farts, slime, ooze, and muck - these are a few of our favorite things! Did you know manatees pass gas to control buoyancy, or that sea stars throw up their stomach to eat food? The ocean is filled with these oddities. Come learn more gross and icky facts about animals from Florida on October 16th from 1 to 2 pm.

Haunted Tales of Tampa Bay - Get spooky with Tampa Bay Watch! Learn which creepy animals call the bay home and hear haunted tales of the city all while catching a Florida west coast sunset. Come in a Halloween costume for an even spookier time! These haunted tours will run 6 to 7 pm October 21st - 23rd and October 28th - 30th.

Bay Babies: Spooky Sea Slime - Join us with your young scientists for a special spooky sea program on October 22nd from 11 am to 12 pm. We will explore how silly creatures use slime to survive. This event is best for kids aged 3-6. Bay Babies sessions include an interactive story-time and activity.

Science Saturday: Super Spooky - It’s spooky season! The land and sea are full of unique creatures that thrive in the darkness. Come join us for a super spooky Science Saturday on October 29th, from 11 am to 1 pm, as we explore creatures that seem out of this world!

“Ick”ology - Can’t make it to this month’s first “Ick”ology class? Have no fear, we have another coming up October 30th from 1 to 2 pm! We can’t wait to talk all about farts, slime, ooze, and muck again. Another icky fact is that parrotfish enclose themselves in a bubble of mucus overnight to keep predators away! The ocean is filled with these oddities. Come learn these and many more gross and icky facts about animals from around Florida.

We hope we’ll see you soon! 👻
